It seems that I have always been
involved in the arts for which I have my Mother to
thank. Growing up, we were never lacking in paint,
soap for carving, potter’s clay, weaving looms and a
huge roll of butcher paper! In 1967 I received a
B.A. in Home Economics from the University of
Washington with a degree in Clothing Design,
Textiles and Art. Not wanting to be a clothing
designer, I went into the field of retailing for 2
years, then back to the U. W. for a teaching degree.
I taught Home and Consumer Education and ceramics at
the high school level. |

My
Dad loved having a watercolor picture of his home of
50 years

While my children were young I
volunteered in the community as a docent for a Northwest
Art Collection which was toured to city schools and
I co-developed an art appreciation course for my
children's grade school that today is part of the
curriculum.
In the fall of 2002, when a good
friend asked me to join her in taking a water color
class, I leapt at the chance and discovered a new
passion! When we put our home of 30 years on the
market, I decided to paint a memory of our home to
ease my sorrow about moving from the only home my
children knew. The prints I made for
my children
were a big hit! I then decided to paint a memory for
my 90 year old father who resides in an assisted
living facility. He loved the portrait I painted of
our family home of 50 years! Thus a new career was
born. Painting memories for others has been both fun
and exciting and very rewarding! |
